Slotted Nuts / Castle Nuts - Din 935

A Slotted nut / Castle nut also know as a castelated nut has slots cut into one end of the nut .  When used in application the bolt or threaded bar generally has a predrilled hole so when the castle nut / slotted nut is threaded onto the bolt or threaded bar and torqued to the required position it can then be secured using a cotter pin or wire to prevent rotation.  Thus Slotted nuts / Castle nuts are used in applications where vibration or motion could undo the nut.

Although both the Slotted nut and Castle nut look the same and have almost identical dimensions the main difference is the thickness of the nut, as the Slotted nut is approximately 10% thinner than the Castle nut.
Slotted nuts / Castle nuts are generally manufactured from steel grade 4, 8 and 10 but also available in Stainles Steel A2 & A4.
BSF, BSW, UNC & UNF are available from 1/4" to 3" with orther sizes made to order.

Our Grade 8 Slotted & Castle nuts are stocked ranging from M12 to M24 in a self colour finish,  manufactured to BS3692 and are available for next day deivery.

Other sizes and materials are avaialable and those sizes not currently in stock are manufactured to order with shot leadtimes (from 2/3 days).
