Characterised by their high yield strength, Duplex Stainless Steel threaded rods hold twice the annealed yield strength than A2 and A4 stainless steel threaded rods, which is part of the reason that the material is so heavily used.
They host improved corrosion resistance, which means it can be used across applications where stress-corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, pitting, erosion and general corrosion are all prevalent. This is why it can be often found in chemical processing, petrochemicals, the power industry and in seawater equipment.
The name “Duplex” comes from the mixture of the ferritic and austenitic materials in the microstructure.
This steel cannot be used above temperatures above 600 degrees.
