Security Pin Tx Captive Screws are often used for safety reasons, and are required by EU law on a number of pieces of safety equipment.
Designed with a reduced thread, which is an unthreaded portion beneath the head, which stops the screws from being fully removed from their housing. They can be used alongside Captive Washers to create a self-retaining fastener.
The hexalobular drive, also called security TX, gives the screw tamper-proof properties. Tamper-proof means that they have been developed to prevent or significantly hinder the possibility of interference with the fixture – which with the unthreaded portion makes it incredibly unlikely that the screw will be interfered with. The employment of a tamper-proof drive on a security captive screw is used to ensure that the installer is the only person able to perform maintenance on the fastener.
They are often found in industrial machinery and military applications.
Available as standard in A2 stainless steel and A4 stainless steel, with other materials and finishes available upon request.
