A sheet nut is a type of nut or threaded insert that is used on sheet metal.
They permanently achor themselves to the sheet metal via a process called ‘swaging’, the use of grooves.
Generally made from hard metals such as stainless steel, they are inserted into a softer material such as aluminium.
This is a popular method for adding load-bearing threads to a relatively thin piece of soft sheet metal.
