Reduced countersunk rivet nut fasteners are a form of internally threaded insert that are used in applications where the material thickness is too small to tap a conventional thread. Using rivet nuts, a strong thread is created in thin sheets of material for high strength fastening from bolts and other threaded articles.
The closed end style rivet nut is used in applications to reduce corrosion from moisture or contamination, the closed end rivet nut also prevents screws that are too long being used in the application.
The reduced countersunk head allows the rivet nut to be used in applications without extra hole preparation, providing a low profile flush fit to the application.
The knurled body of the reduced countersunk rivet nut provides increased turning resistance, especially when installed in softer materials.
Installed using a special tool with a threaded stud that engages with internal threads in the rivet nut, these fasteners end up deforming in their unthreaded section and expanding under the reverse side of the material, providing a high strength permanent thread in thin sheet materials.
Reduced countersunk rivet nuts are available in diameters from M4 to M10 in materials ranging across zinc plated steel (), A2 stainless steel (
) and A4 stainless steel (
). Special materials and sizes are available to order.
