What are Self Tapping Screws?

Self tapping screws are fasteners designed to form their own thread as they are installed into wood, plastic, or metal.

They are available with:

• Blunt tips
• Flat tips
• Sharp tips
• Piercing tips

Different tip styles may be selected depending on the material and fastening application.

Our range also includes self drilling screws (Tek screws), which differ from standard self tapping screws by not requiring a pilot hole.

This allows installers and manufacturers to select either:

• Self tapping screws – Suitable where pilot holes or thread-forming installation is preferred
• Self drilling screws (Tek screws) – Suitable where drilling and fastening are combined into a single operation
