Expansion Anchor Bolts

Often referred to as expansion anchors or expansion anchor bolts, these fasteners are installed into predrilled holes in concrete, brick, or other solid substrates to secure an application to a surface without threads.

Security anchor bolts are commonly specified where a strong fixing and tamper resistance are required, helping protect installations against unauthorised removal or interference.

How Expansion Anchor Bolts Work

Once installed, tightening the head of the anchor forces the sleeve to expand outward and grip the walls of the drilled hole.

This expansion mechanism creates a strong hold that resists high torque and helps prevent the anchor from being pulled out, making security anchors suitable for both moderate and high security applications.

Installation and Product Options

Most security anchor bolts require a specialist security driver for installation, helping maintain a tamper-resistant fixing and restricting removal using standard tools.

We also supply a drill-out anchor that can be installed using a standard hex drive for applications where specialist tooling is not required.

Both permanent and removable security anchors are available depending on installation and maintenance requirements:

• Permanent anchors – Selected where removal is not intended and tamper resistance is prioritised
• Removable anchors – Suitable where future maintenance access may be required by authorised personnel

This allows installers and project teams to select the appropriate balance between access requirements and fixing security.
