What are Hastelloy fasteners?
Hastelloy fasteners are manufactured from high-performance nickel-based alloys designed to resist both uniform and localised corrosion. All grades offer excellent corrosion resistance, with molybdenum improving strength and performance at elevated temperatures. Hastelloy is also ductile, allowing components to be forged, cold worked and fabricated with ease.
What grades of Hastelloy fasteners are available?
Hastelloy fasteners are commonly supplied in the following grades:
- Hastelloy C-276 (UNS N10276): Composed of approximately 57% nickel, 16% chromium and 16% molybdenum, this grade offers strong resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion and pitting. It performs well against both oxidising and non-oxidising agents, making it suitable for chemical processing and offshore applications.
- Hastelloy C-22 (UNS N06022): An enhanced grade with increased chromium content, Hastelloy C-22 provides greater overall corrosion resistance than C-276. It offers improved resistance to oxidising agents and has a typical melting point of around 1399ยฐC, extending service life in aggressive environments.
Additional grades, including Hastelloy C-4, are also available on request.
Standard items are available from stock or to order, often with short lead times. Many existing Fastenright products can be manufactured in Hastelloy on request. Non-standard sizes, grades and finishes are available as specials, and bespoke fasteners can be produced to drawings and specifications, subject to minimum order quantities.
