ASTM A194 Nuts, Fasteners and Fixings
ASTM A194 is a specification for various carbon, alloy, martensitic stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel nuts – designed for high temperature or high pressure service.
The carbon, alloy and martensitic stainless steel nuts covered are in the size range 1/4″ to 4″, and M6 to M100 nominal.
The austenitic stainless steel nuts covered are in the size range 1/4″ and M6 nominal and above.
Choosing the right grade will depend on the intended application or assembly, each of which differ slightly in terms of design, service conditions, properties and characteristics.
The most popular grades are A194 2H and 2HM – providing high tensile internally threaded fasteners for use in high strength applications.
Some of the most common grades within the ASTM A194 specification include 3, 4, 6, 7, 7H, 8 and 16. The full list of materials within this specification can be found below.
