Gib head keys are machine keys that host a projecting end, resembling the end of a gib – which serves as a stop mechanism on a rotating shaft.
Made from cut to length steel, the Gib keys are then milled across their head and taper to very specific tolerances to provide a quality finish.
Gib head keys are commonly used within engines, motors and motor shafts to hold pulleys and gears tight to a rotating shaft – and commercially are quite often found within harvesters, combines and other farming equipment.
Available in steel, as well as a number of materials – with finishes available to provide an aesthetically pleasing finish also.
Gib head keys are available from Fastenright to DIN 6887 standard, with specials available to order.
