US Style Rivet Nut Flange Head Half Hex Open End

US Style Rivet Nut Flange Head Half Hex Open End fasteners with an open end are a form of internally threaded insert and are used in applications where material thickness is too thin to tap a conventional thread. Using rivet nuts creates a strong thread in thin sheets of material for high strength fastening from bolts and other threaded items.

The open end of these rivet nuts allow for a stud or male threaded component to thread through the rivet nut without limiting the length or protrusion of the male threaded part, whilst the reduced countersunk head allows the use of this rivet nut without extra hole preparation. They provide a low profile, flush fit to the application, enabling installation in post-painted or pre-coated applications without the damaging of a surface.

The part hex body is to fit into a hexagon hole, eliminating the potential problem of rivet nuts turning after installation, and for excellent lead-in for quick installation.

Installed using a special tool, with a threaded stud or nose that engages with the internal threads of the rivet nut. This pulls upwards, in turn deforming the unthreaded section of the rivet nut to expand under the reverse side of the material, providing a high strength permanent thread in thin sheet material.
