Security Pin Hex Socket Cap Captive Screws are tamper-resistant fixings which are suitable for high torque applications. They are ideal for situations that require medium security and where the fixing needs to be regularly removed for maintenance. A special driver bits is required to apply and remove the fastener.
Captive screws are designed with an unthreaded portion below the head – often referred to as the reduced shank. Once installed, this screw is meant to self retain, which prevents any loss of fasteners.
These screws are designed to reduce cam-out, which can occur in other drives such as Phillips and 2-Hole Drives. This means there is less risk of damaging the drive, screw heard or the application. The hex drive also allows better torque compared to more conventional screw heads.
Pin Hex Socket Cap Captive Screws provide medium security resistance against vandals and thieves at a relatively low cost.
Within the industry, Pin Hex security screws can also be referred to by different names including Hex Pin, Tamper Pin Hex and Socket Screw with Pin.
They can be used with Security Wave Nuts, Shear Nuts, Kinmar Reusable Nuts, Kinmar Permanent Nuts, 4-Hole Nuts or Pin Torx Barrel Nuts for added security.
