Thin Metal Insert Self Locking Nut

Self Locking Nut, with thin design, features a Metal Insert that is more durable than plastic or nylon inserts, while reducing the inner diameter. This is beneficial for use with products that are serviceable or may require some form of maintenance.

The nut is a torque prevailing nut that uses a metal insert located towards the top, which then deforms over the mating thread. This captures the bolt or screw, providing a locking feature causing resistance or prevailing torque.

This keeps the nut in position and resistant to any vibrations, while ensuring the screw threads do not cause damage to the insert. This allows it to be re-used more frequently than plastic or nylon inserts.

They can be used in environments with very aggressive temperatures and conditions where they can retain their locking ability up to 400°C, depending on the material and finish.

The Metal Insert Self Locking Nut, with thin design, can also be used to assist in sealing the bolt thread against seepage of oil, water, petrol, paraffin, and other liquids.

Available from Fastenright as standard in thread sizes from M4 to M24, with a range of materials and finishes available depending on the application.

Non-standard sizes, materials and finishes are available to order as specials, including small volume manufacture, modifications and bespoke parts made to drawings. Minimum order quantities apply.
