Flange Metal Insert Self Locking Nut

This Flange Self Locking Nut is a torque prevailing nut that uses a Metal Insert located towards the top of the nut, reducing its inner diameter. The insert deforms over the mating thread, capturing the fastening bolt or screw. It provides a locking feature that causes resistance or prevailing torque, keeping the nut in position and resistant to vibration.

This design feature means that the screw threads do not cause damage to the insert, allowing the nut to be re-used.

The Metal insert is more durable than plastic or nylon inserts making it beneficial for use with products that are serviceable or require maintenance.

The nut can also be used to assist in sealing the bolt thread against seepage of oil, water, petrol, paraffin, and other liquids.

Metal Insert Self Locking Nut with Flange can be used in environments with very aggressive conditions and temperatures where they can retain their locking ability up to 400^°C, depending on the material and finish.
