Flange Head Rivet Nuts with a smooth body and open end are a form of internally threaded insert, used in applications where the material thickness is too small to tap a conventional thread.
By using rivet nuts, a strong thread is created in thin sheets of material for high strength fastening from bolts and other threaded articles.
The flanged head of this style of rivet nut is used to reinforce the hole and increase resistance to pull-out, making it ideal for load-bearing applications.
The open end style allows the stud or male threaded component to thread through the rivet nut without limiting the length or protrusion of the male threaded part.
Flange Head Rivet Nuts with a smooth body and open end are installed using a special tool with a threaded stud that engages with the internal threads of the rivet nut and pulls upwards, which in turn deforms the unthreaded section of the rivet nut to expand under the reverse side of the material. This provides a high strength permanent thread in thin sheet material.
Available in zinc plated steel, A2 and A4 stainless steel and aluminium, in diameters ranging from M4 to M12. Other materials, sizes and bespoke requirements can be made to order.
