Vented Hex Head Set Screws

A2 Stainless Steel, precision cleaned Vented Hex Screws, created to DIN 933 with a central vent to aid in the elimination of virtual leaks.

A virtual leak happens due to residual air space left at the bottom of a hole in which a screw is threaded – as well as the screw itself containing voids of trapped air. Vibrations can potentially cause the loosening of the vented hex screw which releases the aforementioned gas, creating a virtual leak.

Also referred to as Vacuum Hex screws, these components aid in the elimination of virtual leaks in high vacuum and ultra high vacuum systems, as well as improving pump-down times – and are most effective when used alongside a vented washer. This trapped gas is removed via the central ventilation hole in the middle of the screw.

Vented Hex screws are available in M4 to M8, with specials available upon request. A4 Stainless Steel screws are also available, with both Steel types available with coatings of Silver, Gold, Nickel and other coatings.

Non-standard sizes, materials and finishes are available to order as specials, including small volume manufacture, modifications and bespoke parts made to drawings. Minimum order quantities apply.
