Shear Barrel Nuts Countersunk Head

Shear Barrel Nuts with Countersunk Head are a unique one-way permanent fastener designed for use in the highest security applications and environments.

Otherwise known as breakaway or “Snap Off” Barrel Nuts, this component features a flat countersunk head with a hexagonal section positioned above it.

Installed into a countersunk hole using a standard hex socket or wrench, the hexagonal section snaps off once the fastening pressure exceeds the maximum torque limit of the barrel nut.

This reveals a plain drive-less head which prevents tampering and removal – an ideal choice for applications where no future maintenance is required.

Countersunk Head Shear Barrel Nuts provide a reliable safety and security solution for a wide range of applications and assemblies. They are typically found in banks, prisons and various industries that require a permanent fixing e.g. aerospace and automotive.

Manufactured from Zinc Plated Steel and A2 / 303 Stainless Steel as standard, with other materials and finishes available on request.

Available now in an M8 thread as standard, with other sizes available to order. Fastenright can also supply a range of Shear Snap Off Fasteners and Security Screws to meet your requirements.

Non-standard sizes, materials and finishes are available to order as specials, including small volume manufacture, modifications and bespoke parts made to drawings. Minimum order quantities apply.Shear Barrel Nuts Countersunk Head Technical Drawing
