Hexolabular TX (Torx) Pan Head Captive Screws are an adaptation of DIN 7985 / ISO 14583 and feature an unthreaded portion, or reduced shank, below the head of the fastener.
Once installed, typically alongside a Threaded Captive Washer, they are designed to self-retain. This prevents the screws from being fully removed from their target housing.
Captive screws are often utilised for safety purposes due to their captive nature – required by EU law on some safety equipment. They are also found within manufacturing and military applications.
TX (Torx) Pan Head Reduced Shank Captive Screws are manufactured from A2 / 304 Stainless Steel and A4 / 316 Stainless Steel as standard. Other materials are available to order such as Brass, Aluminium, and Titanium.
Available at Fastenright with thread sizes from M1.6 to M8, and lengths from 8mm to 60mm. These components can be supplied with thread locking patches to increase screw retention and resistance to vibration.
Non-standard sizes, materials and finishes are available to order as specials, including small volume manufacture, modifications and bespoke parts made to drawings. Minimum order quantities apply.
